Pearl Obsession

If you've been to one of my shows, you may have noticed that I incorporate pearls in some of my work. I just absolutley love pearls. Don't get me wrong diamonds are always a girls best friend! But, take a look at these gorgeous Les Bernad pearls.

A girl could use these pearls on an evening out to the opera or running daily errands! Spring 2010 collections from style.com

Pearls are so versatile that designers past and present attempt to repliacte this ocean gems. In my creations, I also attempt to create pieces that can be used for a formal event or simply running errands.

This creation went to a fashion forward client.

Bonjour mes amis - What a delightful whirlwind! UE participated in Houston's "The Find" an underground fashion show that focuses on new and unique designers. The show included ready-to-wear, jewelry, and handbags. So if you're into fashion you definitely have to catch this show in the spring!!

I want to thank all of you who came out to see me! Because this was a last minute event, I was not able to post an entry to let you guys now about this great show. And I had planned to take pictures of the event and the UE booth, but was only able to get one image!!! I did manage to focus my creativity and create many new fabulous pieces for the show. I am still creating new pieces and will keep you guys posted on my next event.

Party Time

Ohhh Fall is coming!!! Here in Houston that means cooler temps low 90’s vs. 100+ degree weather! And believe me we are grateful!! But it also means lots more parties and opportunities to dress up.

The 2009 fall fashion lines are inspiring style.com. As usual I look to these images for inspiration when I create pieces. I have been working on some new pieces (images on right) and adding to my collection of vintage rhinestone jewelry that screams Hollywood Glamour!

As I complete more pieces I will be added them online.

Upcoming Jewelry Show

Using the 2009 Spring collections (style.com) as inspiration, I have been busy working on the upcoming jewelry show at The Homestretch. Just in time for Valentine's Day, but the collection will also include pieces for Spring. There are lots of vivid colors, but also the ever present neutrals.

The upcoming collection will include recent antique and vintage finds. I am also planning to include my usual metalwork. I am hoping to include a preview of my collection on my next post.

What a surprise! At the annual Holiday Jewelry Trunk Show at The Homestretch on December 5th, Courtney Barton attended the show and was excited about my jewelry line that night. I had met Courtney, at one of my first shows, a while back. I knew she loved my work and it turns out so does her mom and sister. It also turns out she has been very busy creating this really hip! blog called In(side)the loop. She told me all about it and asked if she could profile Urban Embellishments. I said Yes!!

Courtney sent me some questions and needed some photos. The result was Houston Profile: Urban Embellishments posted on her blog on 12.30.08. It turned out great!

Courtney was recently featured in Houston Magazine as one of the top blogger in Houston and just one look at her blog and you can tell why!

Ready for the Fall?

Ok, so it's the Holiday season and the scramble is on for the perfect dress and accessories. Let me tell you, it can be brutal! Not sure if I can help with the perfect dress, but I may be able to help with the accessories. Whether you're joining friends for a quiet dinner, attending the mandatory company event, or just having a romantic dinner for two - make sure before you have your sparkling champagne you have your sparkling jewelry ready to go!

For this line, I have included pieces that can be worn with formal or casual outfits. As usual with Urban Embellishments pieces, I have combined vintage or antique pieces with the new. And to add to the glamour, I have also included some very interesting vintage rhinestone jewelry and accessories.

I have updated the jewelry case at The Homestretch, just in time for the Holiday season, so come by and take a look.

Are you ready for a lazy summer afternoon in St. Tropez? Ok, so with the airlines going nuts and the out of this world gas prices your local beach may have to do. But this beach hat from Anthropologie can sure put you in the mood!

The hat reminds me of my vacation to Playa del Carmen. Yes, to my sister's horror I love wearing hats and BIG ones! The crystal blue waters of the Caribbean have inspired my latest line for Summer '08, which includes more simple designs.

I wanted to keep things simple, but still somehow incorporate Antique and Vintage pieces as I usually do. And of course ANYTHING that glitters!!

The HOT summer just makes you want to wear more simple things, so I have also included more simple metal work designs.

In the next week, I will be redesigning my jewelry case for my Summer '08 line. So come by The HomeStretch and take a look !

I created this blog to share my creative thoughts, inspirations, and the latest on Urban Embellishments with friends and clients.

I incorporate past era baubles into my pieces to create something fresh and coveted by those who are fashion forward or who simply delight in beautiful adornment. I have been known to walk circles around SoHo in a hunt for the most gorgeous French antique lace, and have even braved LA traffic in a mad dash to find the perfect vintage/antique pieces. In addition to the old Hollywood, I am inspired by Chanel, John Galliano and YSL. I also do my own my metal work.

In the weeks to come, I hope to provide a sense of what inspires me to create for Urban Embellishments.
